The first program was held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 starting at 7:00pm at the Heritage Center, 1118 W. Cheyenne Road. There is no charge. The program will be lead by Richard Marold, editor of the Cheyenne Mountain KIVA - The Journal of the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center. Interested citizens who wish to attend are asked to call the Heritage Center at 632-7000. The article for each session will be posted on the Heritage Center’s website: www.CMHeritageCenter.org Shane said, “I hope that ‘History Readers Refuge’ becomes a place where western history won’t stay in a book. With this program citizens will become more familiar with the rich background, not only of the Pikes Peak/Cheyenne Mountain region, but of the West.” Marold, who in addition to being editor of KIVA is well known for his portrayal of Winfield Scott Stratton, said that “a monthly history book club required more time than many people have. But reading a significant historical article and discussing it with other interested people fits the time constraints of our busy society.” If you like to truck with ideas and understand the region in which we live, join the “History Readers Refuge” for a monthly meeting. |
