Welcome to the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center!

Although times are always changing, the mission of the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center remains the same, “to gather and share the unique inheritance and traditions of the Cheyenne Mountain region.”  The Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center has been operating as a non-profit entity in this community since 1997, but did not have a physical residence until 2005 when it moved into the old District 12 administrative building at 1118 W. Cheyenne Rd.  At that time and until December of 2010, the CMHC had an active gallery which displayed local and regional artist, held a speaker series each quarter, a complimentary family art series, the monthly History Readers’ Refuge, produce the KIVA magazine and was the operation center for building an interface with the community and local history in this corner of the Cheyenne Mountain region.

Unfortunately, the growing economic concerns of our nation have reach into our little corner of the cañon and made it necessary for the Center to close its doors for the time being. The work and mission of the Heritage Center continues through the production of the bi-annual KIVA magazine which continues to be edited by Richard Marold and produced with the help of volunteers. It is only through the monetary support of subscribers that we are able to continue to produce the KIVA magazine which so enriches our minds and our hearts.  Subscriptions to the KIVA, Journal of the Pikes Peak Region are available for $20 for two issues a year. These engaging coffee table editions are only printed in limited quantities and may be treasured for a lifetime. You may order from this website by clicking on the icon to the left or call the CMHC answering machine at 719-632-7000.

The Heritage Garden and Legacy Pathway continues to be nurtured by volunteers each spring! The garden continues to grow with bulbs from our neighbor’s gardens and busy hands keep weeds from growing over the paver stones that create the legacy pathway. We are not taking orders for more paver stones at this time, but the garden is waiting for visitors each season with benches in the shade in front of the CMHC building at 1118 W. Cheyenne Road.

Please become a part of the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center mission by ordering your subscription today and help preserve a little part of American history, for we are all part of a greater story whether we realize it or not!
