The Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center Family Art Series offers an opportunity to paint with yucca fronds and earth paints inside a real tipi. Join us for this unusual art experience where you can learn about one of the native cultures of this region, the Ute Indians, from a creative perspective. A gallery tour of the paintings of regional native scenes prior to painting yourself will be your inspiration. The class is intended for ages 5-adult. Five years old and under must be accomopanied by an adult. Call or email to register. Cost is $10 per painter.

The Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center Speaker Series continues in the month of July with a presentation by author, Jan Petit: "Where the Bears Dance". The presentation will consist of a gallery review of works donated from CM District 12 art works, loans from the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and from The Art Bank. Then Ms. Petit will show a video of the Ute Bear Dance ceremony to begin her explanation of the Ute culture and its significance in the Cheyenne Mountain region. Admission is free, but a $5 per person donation will be gladly accepted.
